This past year... i was honored to create some amazing art for my friend Carolee McMullin and her company AdornIt. They are called Art Play Paintables. She printed them on some fabulous watercolor type paper and they take well to watercolor, colored pencils and markers. They come in 12 x 12 sheets like is shown below.
You can choose to use some of the larger prints (like the 8x10 boots picture shown above) can be put directly into a frame, used in a scrapbook or you can mount it on some of their wood shaped surfaces.
This is one of the little 4x6 cards that can be made into a greeting card or I colored it and layered it onto some of AdornIt's Blender Basics papers - which I love! I justed sewed a few layers together and hung it from a hanger
the hangers have not been available for a long time but are now being made again by I believe Hampton Arts new mixed media collection and they are a must have.
I colored these with just some basic watercolors using a niji waterbrush pen and then highlighted the flowers on her dress with Stickles crystal glitter glue.
This one is just the same as the Go Girl card. It can get hung, or put on an easel
I added in a felt snowflake when i was sewing it together because to me,
hearts and snowflakes scream winter!
Here is another 8x10 style and i chose to just color and layer again using the Blender Basics papers.
I added a felt casing and a dowel to hang it from. A few ribbons on the side, a bit more glitter glue and you are good to go.
The home plaque shows how you can layer AdornIt's
wood shaped surfaces. I painted the larger in a deep rose and the the smaller in a bright blue, not normally my colors but I like how this turned out. I used the Blender Basics papers again to add in the circles to make it look like a penny rug. Lastly I added my signature wire hanger with beads.
For this piece, I found a fifty cent frame at a thrift shop. Got out the acrylic white paint and finger painted the whole thing. When it dried, i used a sharpie to add some wording to the edge.
I added in another 4x6 paintable that I watercolored -
fast and simple gift idea for a friend!
This one below showcases another of AdornIt's
wood shaped surfaces with a scalloped edge. I painted it up and sewed some fabric to the back of a paintable 6x6 piece with my favorite theme.... vintage trailers!

I outlined the edge with a white Signo pen for a bit of detail and added some Diamond Glaze over the moon and stars. It ran a bit... so i added in more and tossed in some micro beads in clear on top of the Diamond Glaze.
You can see the micro beads here. When the Diamond Glaze is wet ( it takes about an hour to dry ) - you can just toss them on top. Kinda love them!
Here is another 8x10 piece on a wood surface. I added some solid color paper strips to the surface and then popped up the quote with some pop dots, added some colored twine and a pretty bow.... good to go.
Last but not least... here is a 4x6 piece that I made into a card or a little art piece that you can stand up on a table or a desk. Who wouldn't love getting a sweet card like this in the mail from you?

Holy moly, where to begin? Awesome stuff! Totally lovin' the micro beads and glaze. Wowza. So happy to be hopping along!
Absolutely beautiful work... love the color
Love the way you used the stamp sets. So much fun in decorating pieces for hangings.
Thanks for the tip on hanging pieces from a hanger. I have a couple pieces on canvas or burlap but didn't want to put them in an album. I'll be hanging them for display rather than leaving them laying around.
Wonderful post. thanks for sharing.
Great projects. I really liked the frame that you wrote around the edges. What a great idea.

Cheerful and bright lovely art from you Miss Creator of Cuteness. I am late to the party but so happy I got here. Creative Bliss...
First I love your work.
So I finally started emptying those last boxes from my move 10 years ago. I found your 1997 book "The ABC's of Creative Lettering" . I knew that book was some where. As I was browsing through I recognized your designs from a different art form that that was begun in the early 2000's
used for relaxation. Just thought that was cool that you started sharing your work earlier.
